Re: Curlett glentrammon
In Response To: Re: Curlett glentrammon ()

The references are to the family of Corlett of Glentramaman East. This farm was part of the Lezayre Particles, situated east of the Glentramman stream, and adjoining the farms of Glenduff and the Nappin held by my Crow ancestors in 16th - 18th centuries.

In 1513 Glentramman East was apparently fragmented, a small portion worth a yeaarly rent of 2s was held by Paul McCorleot and mother. Other McCorleots also paying rent there wereThomas (8s 8d) and John (7s). Earlier in c. 1490-5 there were Patric paying 4s 6d, Reynold with 13s and John with part of 17s.

There is a brief account off the Corletts of Glentramaman in Canon Kermodde's parish history, The Anallls of Kirk Christ, Lezayre (1954) long out of print. He says the family were parish clerks from 1672 to 1823. Not to be confused with Corlett of Loughan E Yeigh who came from Ballaugh in the 18th c. Eventually there was a financial crash, and apparentlyy the main line emigrated to NZ.
