Re: Radcliffe, Keig, Archibald
In Response To: Re: Lamothe ()

Hello Jean,

Belfast farm in Andreas (as Frances wrote). It is Ian Radcliffe's family.

I looked up the Lezayre register many years ago to try to sort out this family. I had these notes:
Thomas RADCLIFFE bapt.31 July 1803 married [1] Lezayre 2 Apr.1825 Isabella ANDERSON (1802-1857), married [2] Lezayre 5 Oct.1861 Jane KEIG, widow, als ARCHIBALD.
Jane’s father was Charles Archibald, a servant. Thomas 's father was Thomas Radcliffe tailor. Jane Archibald married William KEGG 9 July 1837 in Lezayre, who d.1850.
Jane Keig als Archibald christened as Jane Quayle, mother Elizabeth Quayle, chr 11 May 1817 Lezayre [Elizabeth born abt 1797, with widowed Jane at Dry Close/Close Chirrum 1851 & 1861] married as Jane Archibald to William Keig 9 Jul 1837 Lezayre. Keig children all chr Lezayre: John 27 Aug 1837; William 5 May 1839; James Edward 20 Apr 1841; Thomas 23 Apr 1843; Daniel 19 Oct.1845; Joseph 17 May 1848; Benjamin 14 Jul 1850. [Some of this came from Jane Marshall who hasn't looked at the message board for several years.]

MI, St Jude’s Andreas: In memory of Thomas Radcliffe who died Oct 30th, 1890, aged 86 years. [Ian Radcliffe says = aged 96]

I think this Thomas lies at St Judes, buried 30 October 1890 aged 96 which fits neatly with the christening date. St Judes is probably slightly closer to Ballacrebbin than Andreas, as it looks like this was the principal area of the Billy Dicks. [Ian Radcliffe]
