Money and people are in short supply at present (planned closure of children's libray + mobile library closed, cutbacks + layoffs in many other Gov depts with more to come etc etc) - you could always come over for a holiday and do the work on Island - CD's of the censuses are readily available - the mormon films give access to parish regs + wills + a lot more - you are always going to have problems post 1911 as data protection severely restricts what is available - maybe get a subscription to the British Library scanned IoM Times (used to be available via many larger libraries) as this tended to be best for BMD announcements
