Re: Kaighin
In Response To: Re: Kaighin ()

Hi Anna,

Thomas KAIGHIN & Margaret KANEEN married in Maughold on 10 Nov 1870, as Greg wrote, and he was recorded as being a bachelor.

The parents Greg gave for him - Thomas Kaighan & Margt Fitzimmons - married in Maughold on 25 Oct 1848. Son Thomas Kaighen gave his age as 35 in the 1881 census, so might have been born pre his parents' marriage. The IGI would have his bapt recorded under his mother's surname if so, even if the father was given.

There is an extracted entry on the IGI for THOMAS EDWARD FITZIMONS Christening: 30 MAY 1846 Ramsey, Mother: MARY FITZIMONS, no father given. "Mary" and "Marg" are often confused in transcripts - you need to look at a filmed copy of the Ramsey register. (LDS film no.0106741)

Margaret KAIGHEN aged 51 yrs. from Ramsey was buried in Maughold on 25 Nov 1900.

Margaret KAIGHEN aged 83 yrs. from Ramsey was buried in Maughold on 1 May 1910 (could this be Margaret Fitzimmons?)

Thomas KAIGHEN aged 83 yrs. of Radcliffe's Lane, Ramsey, was buried in Maughold on 14 Feb 1930.

Thomas KAIGHIN aged 51 of Quayle`s Ct, King St, Ramsey, buried Maughold Sep 6 1872 (father Thomas?).
