all the Lonan Crain wills upto the 1809 have been on MNB for some time - however difficult to interpret unless you have benefit of the info in a couple of deeds - the children's wills are the c/o of Robert Craine (snr) + first wife - her will is one I havn't got but was in Braddan 1738 - Robert then married again to Isabel Gelling als Cannell (she appears to come from Maughold as confirmed by yet another deed as her bro sells land to Robt). Just before his death Gelling bought part of Ballig (or Ballalugg as per composition book) - he died before payment and completion - went to a dispute in court but private agreement reached that widow Isable + her 2nd husb Robt Crain would pay. hence the link back to Braddan and my suggestion that Robt was son of Wm jnr of the How(e)
I will advertise that many (inc these + abt 3000 other summaries(1200 or so M/Cs) are on MNB CD Rom - the small profits of which help me continue MNB
