I also have an ancestor John James Kelly, born 1865 parents John James b1847 & Elizabeth nee Looney. My John James was an uncle of my grandmother Frances Evelyn b 1897, her parents were Robert Archibald 1868-1934 & Margaret Jane Quayle 1872-1954.
It has been reported through the generations that a Kelly ancestor died in the Snaefell Mine disaster. I haven't established a link to Robert Kelly who died aged 20, but it seemed logical that it was my John James Kelly who died June 1897, now I'm not so sure.
When I'm next in the iMuseum I will research newspaper reports and death notices around the time of the disaster to see if any mention is made of the deaths.
