Re: More Craine MIs please
In Response To: Re: More Craine MIs please ()

Is it possible that this Elizabeth Craine is in fact William Craine's sister? Do we have firm evidence that William remarried after Jane Teare's death or might his unmarried sister have come to help him with his young family?

My reasons are - Robert Craine b1739 married Elinor Gick (bp6 Jan 1756) Marriage 7 Nov 1775 Santan
Their children were
Esther bp 16 Feb 1777 - later married Arthur Bridson
William bp 7 Nov 1779
Robert bp 1 April 1782 - became Rev Rbt Craine - died consumption 27 Feb 1813, buried Braddan
Edward bp 18 Dec 1785 - became Rev Edward Craine - Kirk Onchan - died 25 April 1847
Elizabeth
I have no info on this Elizabeth except she is mentioned in father Robert's will and is left £60 - more than any of the others - because she is youngest or unmarried?
The witness at the marriage of Rev Edward Craine and Isabella Moore, 1 Nov 1812 Onchan, is Elizabeth Craine. i have always presumed this to be the sister.
So could she be the
CRAINE, Elizabeth 57 Braddan Burial 19 Nov 1846 and who was with William in 1841 aged 50.

A previous link mentions no Craines living at Kilkenny in 1851 Census. This would make sense as they had all moved away and died by then. The descendents of Rev Edward Craine living mainly in Ramsey.

Anyone's thoughts on this would be helpful.
