Re: Robert & Elizabeth Goldsmith

Jeff, if it turns out that your Robert Goldsmith was indeed the son of Robert Goldsmith and Ann Young, then you may be interested in viewing the scans of the entries in the parish registers of St Nicholas and St Philip in Liverpool of Daniel Goldsmith's marriage in 1845 and of Thomas Young Goldsmith's marriage in 1839.

These scans show actual signatures, names and occupations of fathers, and signatures of witnesses.

Nov 11th 1839 St Philip

Thomas Young Goldsmith / full age / bachelor / joiner/ Edward St / Robert Goldsmith / miller.
Esther Kelly / full age / spinster / Seel St / John Kelly / labourer.
One of the witnesses was a Robert Goldsmith (a signature, not an x mark)

24 Aug 1845 St Nicholas

Daniel Goldsmith / full / widower / blacksmith / Craven St / Robert Goldsmith / miller
Ann Matthews / minor / spinster / Trafalgar Place / Richard Mathews / whitesmith.

I think that Daniel's first marriage was to Eleanor Kewley in Lonan in 1842. Eleanor died in 1843 (childbirth ?)
