Re: Bridsons again
In Response To: Re: Bridsons again ()

Thanks Sue,
John Bridson and Jane Curphey had a daughter Jane bapt 26 June 1808 who married Martyn Sprainger. Jane [Bridson] Sprainger died young and her daughter Jane Sprainger junr lived with her grandmother Jane [Curphey] Bridson on 1841 census in Big Well St. The next people on the census list were James, Elizabeth and Ann Bridson and I am starting to think the Elizabeth may be Jane [Curphey] Bridson's daughter as she is about the right age for the daughter I found for the couple. But I can't find any reference to either James or Ann as being other children to them.

What I would like to know is who my James Bridson's parents were and where he and his wife Elizabeth [Kneen] Bridson were in 1841.
James Bridson stated Santon as his birthplace on all the census and birth would have been C1820.

1851 the couple appear in Corrans Place with their daughter Elizabeth and mother-in-law Elizabeth Kneen but no mention of Mary Ann Bridson their 2nd daughter - and she would have been about 4 yrs old at that time.

In 1861 they are at Shaws Brow with dau Margaret who would be the right age for Mary Ann but ennumerator has definitely written Margaret.

Should have said Jane Curphey and John Bridson were married at Malew, I think, although this is purely from IGI and hasn't been checked at the museum because I'm not sure which line to follow now.

Thanks for replying Sue.
Any thoughts appreciated.
