Re: Liz 's Camlork Family Tree
In Response To: Re: Liz 's Camlork Family Tree ()

Hello Averil,

Many thanks for your tree which is very helpful in clearly showing the relationship which Donna posted between Jane Cain bapt 17 Dec.1837 Braddan daur of Hugh CAIN & Esther KISSACK, and the Jane DUKE als CAIN b.1810 whom we assumed was looking after her (Jane 1837) illeg son John (bapt 30 May 1859 Braddan) in later censuses.

- But it was just an assumption, and not yet proved. The John living with William & Jane Duke just seemed to be the "most likely" John to be Liz's ancestor, of the ones I listed from the censuses (and other people might find/have found other options). This John (later living with the Dukes) also looks likely to be the one who was living with Hugh & Esther Cain in 1861 in a household including their unmarried daughter Jane, but that doesn't make him definitely Liz's ancestor. Or even definitely the same person in the two households. We need to find what happened to mother Jane, and why John wasn't living with her. Donna's MI in 1865 for married Jane was a different person.

There is always a chance that Jane married and her son John adopted the stepfather's surname.

And equally importantly we also need to find John's father Robert. I think the unmarried carter who Jean found is the best hope so-far. If Liz doesn't mind wading through all those Robert wills I listed, something might show up. And there is still a hope with the remaining Presentments.
