Re: My Family of Cain
In Response To: Re: My Family of Cain ()

Hello Averil & Liz,

Averil, I thought this request you made to Liz was a good one, because if Robert left a will (and especially if unmarried) there is a good chance he might mention John in it.

"Have you looked at these Wills ?
CAIN, Robert 1905 Douglas
CAIN, Robert 1912 Douglas
CAIN, Robert 1915 Douglas"

I had a look at the Roberts who were buried within the time period, excluding those who would have been children in 1859, and compared them with the wills index.

These ones left wills or decrees:
CAIN, Robert 1863 Malew E 89 0106464 [aged 75 - too old?]
CAIN, Robert 1865 Malew E 33 0106467 [aged 32 or 65]
CAIN, Robert 1866 Braddan E 65 0106470 [84 - too old]
CAIN, Robert 1871 Ballaugh E 57 0106476 [56, bur. Braddan?]
CAIN, Robert 1886 Braddan 155 0106503 [57, bur. Patrick?]
CAIN, Robert 1886 Douglas 156 0106503 [?]
CAIN, Robert 1890 Douglas 28 0106511 [48, bur Malew?]
CAINE, Robert 1892 Ballaugh 17 0106514 [57]
CAINE, Robert 1892 Malew 18 0106514 [88]
CAIN, Robert Edward 1894 Douglas 120 0106519 [?]
CAIN, Robert 1896 Douglas 149 0106524 [?]
CAIN, Robert henry 1897 Douglas 13 0106525 [?]
CAIN, Robert 1905 Douglas 53 0106549 [67]
CAIN, Robert 1912 Douglas 171 0106573 [84]
CAIN, Robert 1915 Douglas 257 0106585 [77]

[The last three are the ones Averil suggested.]

It might be worth your while Liz to have a quick glance through these, to see whether a John or John Henry is mentioned, starting with the 1915 will, going back? As you know, the 010 7-figure LDS film numbers are no use to you, but the E[pis] or A[rch] and the will numbers (on the left of the 010....) are the same.
