Re: Kneale/ Armstrong.
In Response To: Re: Kneale/ Armstrong. ()

Hi Sue,
I am not now convinced that the William ARMSTRONG that I traced to Fulford, Yorkshire is correct.
My cousin managed to look through Census and we discovered that William ARMSTRONG ( Father Samuel occ: Farmer )
was not on the 1911 Census with Florence or their children.
Checked all through 1911 census for England and Wales and the only married William Armstrong born 1879/1880' ish without a
wife in tow is in Weardale Durham with his widowed mother Jane, a farmer, and some siblings and his job is lead ore smelter, so I was hopeful.
Checked back to 1901 and his father turns out to be called John, and not Samuel as per William & Florence KNEALE's marriage cert, grr.
So it looks like William Armstrong wasn't in IOM, England or Wales in 1911. Any ideas??

I did think that the marriage below COULD have been William's father with wife as it seemed to fit:

I did think that a Marriage found on FreeBMD was William's parents but not certain:
Mar qtr 1878
ARMSTRONG - Samuel Wilson - York - 9d - 97
DAVIDSON - Elizabeth Jane - York - 9d - 97
HERRINGTON - Anne - York - 9d - 97

I have not applied for this cert as would rather find William first.
Hope we can keep helping each other with this query?
Regards,
Carol
