Re: 1911 Isle of Man Census Summary Books Record

Sylvia P has sent me the following message for Marg, and has asked me to post it on the bulletin board as her attempts to do this herself have failed; she keeps being asked for a password (which she doesn't have). Is anyone else having problems with this ?

"It is my understanding that all the 1911 census information that was recorded will be made available in 1911. Ahead of that, Ancestry has made the summary pages available on their site. The official 1911 census site

www.1911census.co.uk/

run by Findmypast is fully searchable and has had all the 1911 census images available since the census was released early, in 2008 or 2009. In my experience that also includes Institutions as I have saved images from The Asylum for the Blind Home & Workshops in Liverpool where the residents were listed as 'inmates' and the College of Education of the Blind, Worcester, where they were 'students'. It seemed a bit superfluous for the 'disability' column to be blanked out in those cases!

I get the impression that the full 1911 census might eventually be available through Ancestry too!"
