Re: Horsley Family
In Response To: Re: Horsley Family ()

There's a family tree on Ancestry which was compiled by a direct descendant of John Horsley b 1815, brother of Henry b 1818 and Hudson b circa 1821 , plus several other siblings, all born in Alston to parents Henry Horsley 1785-1858 and Mary Hewetson 1774-1853 (presumably Hewetson and Hudson were interchangeable, like the Manx Hudgeon, Hutchin etc) . There's a lot of detail (too much to put in a message here right now) which I'm sure would interest you.

This is the marriage of Hudson's parents, copied from the IGI:

I'm assuming that you don't already have a subscription to a website which allows you access to all the British censuses (eg Ancestry). You'd find your research much more satisfying if you did pay for a basic subscription so that you could actually see the census entries, and you'd be able to see photos of some of the New Zealand cousins of your Horsley ancestors, eg Robert Bramwell Horsley b 1858 Maughold IOM (son of John b 1815).
