Re: William GOLDSMITH Died 1827

Thanks for your responses Sue. Based on the extensive research undertaken by my father's cousin, and my subsequent research via ancestry.com, we are confident our family descends from William Goldsmith & Isabel Kermode of Maughold who lived in/around Laxey. On my recent trip to IOM I found William's Will in the museum library which I transcribed as follows:
"The Last Will and Testament of
WILLIAM GOLDSMITH dated 11 February 1826
(Refers to a Christian burial…) I leave and bequeath to my son William Goldsmith, two daughters namely Jane and Isabella Goldsmith, the sum of Ten Pounds British to each of them and likewise three sheep to each of them. And (?) I leave to each Caver (?) the sum of six pence. Lastly I confer (?) and appoint my son William Goldsmith whole and sole executor of all the rest of my goods and chattels and effects movable or immovable of what nature of kind soever as witness my mark to my name the day and date above written.
Witnessed by Robt Joughlin & John Kerruish.
At a Chapter Court House at Ramsey on 31 May 1837, William Goldsmith the executor named on the foregoing will is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely William Christian of Ballatorson on the Parish of Kirk Maughold and John Kerruish one of the witnesses of the will.
Probatum est."
