Re: Thomas Goldsmith
In Response To: Re: T Arthur Goldsmith ()

I think Thomas Goldsmith was previously married to Margaret Kissack (in 18 Jan.1845 Andreas). In the 1851 census they were in Ballaradcliffe, Andreas, with Thomas recorded as a Publican aged 28 b.Bride, wife Margaret 36 Landlady b. Andreas, and step-daur Margaret Kissack 18 Barmaid, Robert Kissack step-son 8, Elizabeth Goldsmith daur 5, Ellinor Goldsmith daur 3, all b.Andreas (plus Esther Giles? 7 visitor .. crossed through, and can't read the comments).

I think Thomas was the son of Ewan/Evan GOLDSMITH & Mary JOUGHIN bapt. 11 July 1820 Bride.
In the 1851 census Andreas, On Ballabane, Evan Goldsmith aged 70 farmer b.Bride is with wife Mary aged 66 b.Andreas, daur Elizabeth Goldsmith Unm 24 b.Bride, grand-daur Mary Goldsmith 13 b.Andreas, grand-daur Sophia Quarry aged 2 b.Andreas.
[Ancestry has her as Stephen Quany.]

Looking for John CAIN & Catherine MC AVOY, she is sometimes entered in IGI extracted records as "AVOY". Youngest? son George was bapt in Ramsey 13 May 1833. Mary Ann's marriage entry had her residence as Ramsey.

In the 1851 census Ramsey, Little Cross, Catherine Cain W 60 Washerwoman b.Ireland and son George Un 18 Sailor b.Ramsey are on their own.

Returning to Thomas Goldsmith & Mary Ann Cain, in the 1881 census Andreas, Grosvenor Inn, Thomas Goldsmith Widr 63 Victualler Licensed b.Bride is with his children Walter Goldsmith 27 General Labourer, Mary A. Goldsmith 23 House keeper, Eliza Goldsmith 21 Dress-maker, James Goldsmith 19 Joiner, George Goldsmith 17 Tailor, and Edward Goldsmith 15 Scholar, all b.Andreas.
