Re: Ancestors of Wm Vondy and Margery Christian

Do you mean children for Thomas Vondy and Ann Kermeen (not Wm & Ann)? If so, the Maughold par reg has Anne daur of Thomas Vondy & Anne Kirmeen bapt 30 Sep 1759.

Other children were bapt in Ramsey, some under only the father's name, so you need to use the batch number to search the IGI for children of Thomas Vondy [C038271].

Maughold burials:
"X Margt infant Daur of Thos VONDY of Ramsey who dyed of the smallpox Dec 1 1757"
"X Catherine daur of of Thomas VONDY Jul 16 1764" [there are two Cath bapts: 1762 & 1770].
"X Cathrine VONDY infant Nov 1 1772"

There were a lot of Vondy burials in Maughold, including a Thomas in 1809, and another "Thomas VONDY who was drowned in Ramsey harbour Febry 20 and was here interred Feb 23 1817" - so the name lived on in Ramsey.

Thomas Vaundy & Ann Kermeen married in Maughold on 9 Jul 1751. Ann was daur of Patrick Kermeen who drowned off Scotland in 1750, and his two sons-in-law took over/bought his land in Dale St, both of whom had houses on the ground (according to Constance Radcliffe). Thomas Vondy was a blacksmith who gradually bought out the shares in the Kermeen property of Ann's two sisters, a house, garden, and smithy on the Sth side of Dale Street. Their sons John & William were also blacksmiths.
