re next - many Irish records were destroyed in 1922 civil war - however there are it seems many sites that offer directories etc that can help determine the likely source of the name in Ireland + other records seem to be emerging (eg many Roman Catholic records) - there would appear to be no burial or will for Wm Barr who has a family in 1814 Peel census - if he bought property there might be record of this - there is a single burial of a daughter of Wm in 1811 so if James was a son (and age seems to vary between censuses) then Wm moved to Peel around or shortly after 1800 - many Manx went to Ireland in late 1790s with the Royal Manx Fencibles which also recruited non-manx - possibly the Barrs returned with them
