I hope I can help you with my interpretation of the early Cretney family tree (some Ancestry families seem to copy each other and perpetuate errors)
Your Anne Cretney ( 1717 to 1781) parents were William C 1691 & Ann Fail 1694 married Oct 1713
William’s parents were William Oates C 1669 to 1712 & Ann Cottier 1765 married about 1690
William Oates C was the son of Oates C 1640 to 1732 & Christian Faragher 1645 to 1689 married abt 1666. They had 7 children Alice 1667, William Oates 1669, Ann 1672, Margaret 1679, Finloe, 1684, John 1686 and Jane 1688.
It seems that Oates re-married after Christian’s death in 1689 to a Margaret Unknown and had two further children Oates C 1692 and Thomas C 1694
Oates C 1640 to 1732 was the son of Finloe C 1606 to 1682 & Mary Oates 1606 as mentioned in Finloe’s will.
Finally Finloe was the son of William C who is recorded in the Manorial records of 1580 as paying duty on a farm Cooilingel in Marown. He is the earliest record of a Cretney found.
I hope this will help your research
Allan Cretney
