The McClures in Marown were strong methodists (the father was I think a trustee of the Crosby Chapel - in 1832 the Rev Aitkin was there (look him up on manxnotebook - a real character) - it is very unlikely that Wm did not name a son after himsef - there is a gap c 1832 which corresponds to Aitkin's period of dalliance with the methodists whilst still ordained minister in C of E , the opening of Crosby chapel etc - I would suggest looking at any Methodist records of this period
