I have tried all the relevant sources, including the Australian Convict Transportation Registers and the Fremantle Prison website which has documented all convicts reaching WA from 1851 onwards. No trace sadly.

He went to Pentonville Prison in 1854 according to Hampton Creer. I checked with The National Archives for a search and, astoundingly, they quoted approximately £200 as a downpayment fee, even though I explained as a strict point of reference that he was transferred from MIllbank Prison to Pentonville on 18/02/1854. It is not the first time that I have been "frightened" by TNA prices.

I may have to accept the "proverbial genealogical brick wall"!!
