Manx Genealogy

Kinck

Dear Sirs,

I'm searching for the origin of my ancestry of the Kinck family in Norway. It's thought to be of Scottish or Manx origin. Peder Kinck (approx. 1570 - 1639) came to Bragernes in Drammen in 1610, and his oldest son, Thomas (Mads) Kinck (born approx. 1600) settled in Bergen in 1638, and is the ancestor of the Norwegian branch, while the youngest son, Peder Pedersen Kinck (born approx. 1604) is the ancestor of a Danish and Swedish branch which writes the name Kinch.

Can this name be linked to any registers on the Isle of Man? Can it be linked to the Kinnaugh family? Is there a coat of arms similar to ours? Any tartans?

Yours sincerely,
Håkon Kinck Gaarder,
Norway

(who visited Isle of Man in May 2009)
