So Catherine J Turnbull, sister of your Margaret, was living with her maternal grandparents in 1871. I'd say that here's your proof that the John Turnbull / Jane Cubbon 1853 marriage is definitely the right one. Below are 2 possible births for Catherine. If I were sending for a certificate, I'd go for the "Catherine Jane" option first as the 1871 census entry looks like Catherine J.

The Turnbull family is interesting in that a Thomas Turnbull b 1762 came over to the IOM from England (Northumberland ?). He married Margaret Smith b 1763 and they had about 10 children, several of whom also produced lots of children. I suspect that most, if not all, of the Manx Turnbulls in 1841 originate from this Thomas b 1762.
