thanks for all the good information! I have not yet fully researched George Crebbin's roots. In the census (and marriage) records, he is listed as George Cribbin but all of his children (including my grandmother) and future generations went by Crebbin. My grandmother and her siblings all had very strong ties to Isle of Man -- they must have had many relatives there who they would visit from Liverpool.
