Re: Thomas Gelling
In Response To: Re: Thomas Gelling ()

A Thomas GELLING married an Elizabeth WILLSON 3 Nov 1807 in Braddan. They had 10 children through 1827 and he was buried 26 Jan 1838 Braddan. He was the son of Richard GELLING & Deborah WILKS bp 16 Jul 1779 St Mathews, Douglas. This is the family of the Gelling Iron Foundry, who built the cast iron rims of the Lady Isabella Water Wheel 1854. This would have been Thomas's son Richard, given the timing.

But he's a generation ahead of the Thomas that Marg is asking about. At the moment, I can't match anybody to him.

Marg, I know you're particularly interested in the family of John Gelling & Isabella Cavendish (md 1788 Braddan), who had a 1799 Thomas. Is this who you're trying to track down? I have some ideas but he's still in my mystery list.
