Re: Ballacojeen
In Response To: Re: Ballacojeen ()

I came across this bulletin board while looking for Ballacojeen.

I am a direct descendant of John Cain (1779-1841) and Jane Crennell (d 1873). On John's death Ballacojeen passed to his eldest son John (1819-1887) and on his death to his nephew John Cain (1876-1932) who was my great uncle. He became a chemist living at Southsea, Hampshire. He inherited the farm when he turned 21 in Sep 1897. The property passed out of Cain ownership when he sold the farm a few years later.
I too have been to the farm (twice) and have photographs taken in early 1990s and the lady in the house next door showed me deeds she had pertaining to the purchase of the land from my great-uncle.
John and my grandfather Frederick William were the sons of Edward James Cain (1837-1884) and Harriet Hall (1841-1889).
I would love to make contact with any direct descendants of George Cain.
To date I have been unable to discover any living descendants of John and Jane who married in 1818.
My brother Miles Hall Cain is the last of the above line to bear the Cain name.
