Re: James & Barnes families
In Response To: Re: James & Barnes families ()

Hi thanks for your posting.

AFter I made my initial posting, I remembered a comment by my mother that Eddie's family had not been from the island, and gradually pieced together the same data that you have come up with, which is refreshing as we have both arrived at the same conclusions.

My research into Brian's site was done some time back, and I know i had problems accessing chunks of it, but this time round it worked out OK. This is undoubtedly the same family.

There are still a number of loose ends, not least when Eddie got married to Auntie Pru (Prudence Sarah James b 1877 d1946).
Eddie went to the States (poss Canada) in 1907, about the time that their daughter Dorothy was born, so that has complicated things no end. I do not yet know when the couple married, but sometime between 1903 and 1906 is likely, or whether Dorothy was born in the IOM, in England or in the States, nor have I founf out when Eddie returned tot he Island, but in 1922 he was appointed Chief Engineer of the MER.

many thanks

Robert
