I have just received a copy of my Esther Ann Callin's death cert (I had been relying on information from my great aunt initially so wanted to confirm).
Parents are stated as William Callin and Esther Leece (big relief that I have that bit right!)
Died 1923 Wattle Flat NSW Australia aged 76 years, which puts birth at 1847. Age when married is 30 which fits with the marriage of Esther Callin to David Kneale 22 Feb 1877.
Phew, big relief!
Now to the confusing part....

What I am now not sure of is if I have the correct parents of Esther Leece who married William Callin on 20 Aug 1843 Kirk German, IOM.
There is an Esther Leece, dau of John Leece and Ann Bridson (as above) mentioned in her brother's will as Esther Leece, which means she is unmarried in 1836. This fits! and is why I had continued on this path....
BUT! As Frances has pointed out to me, the 1851 census shows William Callin and Esther Callin living with Esther Leece, wife's mother. Also, wife's son John Corran 9 years old. 1841 census shows William Clark and Margaret Clark and children living with Esther Leece 28 and John Corran 19 baker's apprentice. Perhaps the parents of the illegitimate John Corran in 1851 census? John Corran bpt 23 Jan 1842 German, parents John Corran & Esther Leece.
So...now I'm thinking that I have everything wrong and my Esther Leece b 1811 is actually the daughter of David Leece and Esther Cain.
In fact the longer I write this message the surer I am that my info is wrong...uhoh!
I guess I'm looking for someone to confirm that Esther Callin (nee Leece) who married William Callin and is mother of Esther Ann Callin b 1847 has parents David Leece & Esther Cain before I go deleting and redoing everything! Do you have this info in your tree?
(I wish I could win the lottery so I could fly over to the IOM and sort all this out much easier! ha ha!)
