Re: robert christian

Hi Bob,
I’m guessing that Owen Lancelot Christian (1915 – 1986) is cousin to your Mum. Do you have any of the research that he carried out?

I am a descendent of the Nelson CHRISTAINs. According to research of Owen Christian my 2x Great Grandfather William CHRSTAIN (1822 – 1885) was brother to your Robert CHRISTIAN (1824). (Their parents shown as Mark CHRISTIAN and Margaret KISSACK.) Chn all born Maughold, IOM.

I am still trying to verify this link with Robert CHRISTIAN (1824), so was very interested to see your thread on Manx Genealogy. A tree that was handed on to me had his wife as Mary BOYD b. 11 Feb 1823 Jurby, IOM [Mary BOYD(E) daughter of Margaret BOYD(E).

Have been going over Census records but am having trouble finding a family…with spouse Ann or Margaret Ann to fit.

However there is a good match in the census records for Robert and Agnes CHRISTIAN
IGI records indicate this would be Agnes Dunzell (along with other variations of this name). They had 12 chn between 1847 and 1864, all born Kirk German.
I see that you noted the name Agnus Dunhill as wife of Robert (1824) as shown on death certificate of Robert (1850). I think this might be starting to come together.

Would be interested to hear Sue’s thoughts too as she has obviously spent some time looking over this family.

Would also be very interested to learn more about the descendants of Robert CHRISTIAN and Sarah Ann DENNIS.
I have:
1. Robert George CHRISTIAN b. 1886 Lyttleton, Canterbury, New Zealand; m Ethel Daisy WAGHORN
2. Julia Jane CHRISTIAN b. 1888 New Zealand; d. 1888 New Zealand
3. Margaret Ann CHRISTIAN b. 1896 New Zealand; d. 1948 New Zealand; m 1898 NZ to Robert WARES
4. Johns Edward CHRISTIAN b. 4 Jan 1893 New Zealand m1 Edith Adelaide PERROT m2 to Dorothy GARNETT

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Michele Gregg
