Re: James & Esther Camash
In Response To: Re: James & Esther Camash ()

Sorry - I made a mistake - the marriage was of course in Jurby "Marriages solemnized in the Parish of Jurby in the Isle of Man in the year 1839. James Camaish a widower of Andreas and Esther Gawne spinster of this parish..."

Paul found that Esther Gawne was a minor (under the age of 21) at the time of her marriage, and this seems to be the only entry on the IGI (extracted from the parish register) which could be hers:
ESTHER GAWNE Christening: 21 OCT 1819 Jurby, Isle Of Man, Father: JOHN GAWNE, Mother: ESTHER CLARKE. So that is pretty close to what you wrote near the top of the thread.

John Gawne & Esther Clarke married 3 April 1819 Jurby [IGI extracted record].
I couldn't find any other children of this couple.
It is possible that this was because John was ill, if this is his will: GAWNE, John 1822 Jurby Epis 1 [LDS film no. 0106423]. You could order this will to view through any Family History Centre (see in phone book under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). IOM wills are often very informative, and well worth getting, especially if Esther was his only child.

Good guess about John's will: Esther Gawne married Thomas QUIRK on 11 Feb. 1823 Jurby [IGI extracted record].
Son Thomas QUIRK bapt 20 Nov. 1823 Jurby, Father: THOMAS QUIRK, Mother: ESTHER GAWNE OR CLARKE.
Also:
ELONER JANE QUIRK Christening: 02 JUN 1829 Andreas, Father: THOS. QUIRK, Mother: ESTHER CLARK
JOHN QUIRK Christening: 06 OCT 1826 Andreas, Father: THOMAS QUIRK, Mother: ESTHER GAWNE OR CLARKE
WILLIAM QUIRK Christening: 11 MAR 1832 Jurby, Father: THOS QUIRK, Mother: ESTHER GAWNE [IGI extracted records]
