Re: Manx men in the American Civil War

William Watterson, son of Richard and Catherine Watterson, was born 1838 and left the Isle of Man arriving in America around 1855. He enlisted in the 112th Illinois Infantry, Company G. He saw action in many campaigns and was wounded in the head by a "ball" at a battle in Georgia. He was mustered out of the service June 20, 1865 and participated in the grand review at Washington and Pittsburgh.
