On the face of it, there seems no connection between yours and my Clagues.
A sister of my Grandfather was called Alice Jane Brew and she married a shoemaker called Joseph Clague in 1881. Between 1881 and 1891, they emigrated to the USA and had four children there, all born in Nebraska - Fredrick C., Emily J, Joseph A. and Linda.
By 1891, they had returned to the IOM, where the father Joseph and daughter Emily J died of TB. By 1891, the mother, Alice Jane had remarried to a Gardener called James Young with whom she had another four children.
