Gentlemen
I having occasion to depart this Island and having Widow Mahoods youngest son to maintain I cannot tell how to dispose and provide any further for him and hither he has been boarded with Chaterine Kissag; he being turned out in such a poore condition I thought it properer to board him there so here he would be taken care of, than that he should beg. Wherefore I desire that you may take this matter to consideration and find some proper means to provide for Child and ease me of this trouble.

It includes one pair of shoes for her youngest son [3 sh.], stockings [10d a pr], shifts and bedclothes for the children, etc. "funeral charges for the late decd widdow Mahood of Douglas 1=12=8d".
