As replied to on the B/B the document is on my site - McHood name does appear in the records though fleetingly and at a period when many merchant strangers were on the Island for the 'running trade' (smuggling into UK); Moore links the name to the Manx Cudd but to be honest I think it unlikely. The association with the seat was with Vinch (or Finch - later to name one road after family - Finch Rd) who was a merchant - many of these merchants left in 1765.
The links of many such merchants were to Liverpool and/or Dublin however Mc Hood might be Scots.
Are you sure the IGI entries are to that family - 30 seems rather large (and I was not aware that IGI listed confirmations (christening = baptism) - where were they and what dates - my guess is that if merchant family would have been at Douglas Chapel (or possibly Kirk Braddan) - have you checked burials records ?
