My husband is a descendant of Eleanor Caley, sister of Arthur Caley the Manx Giant so he doesn't bear the Caley name but we have done quite a bit of research on this line. Arthur was from a large family and had brothers John Thomas (1804) Patrick (1810) William (1813) and Simon Pater (1818) and 6 sisters. Their parents were Arthur Caley and Ann Kewley. Is your husband a descendant of William baptised 1813? Re the Giant, there is a large metal cast of his hand in the Manx Museum and an article entitled "The Mystery of Arthur Caley, the Manx Giant" by Ruth Serjeant enlightens us regarding his career - he apparently faked his death in Paris to collect the insurance money and is next found appearing as Colonel Ruth Goshen in Barnum and Bailey's Circus! So far as is known, the Giant had no children apart from an adopted daughter, Frances.
