Re: CALEY search-ancestors of Arthur Caley

My great-grandfather, Thomas Caley, was the quarry master in Sulby. My Grandfather, Robert James Caley, born 1874, became a butcher and was also a Methodist preacher on the Plan Beg. He was drafted into the British Army in the summer of 1918. He never went to France and was demobbed. As part of his veterans benefits, he was permitted to buy a farm in Canada for $400, so in 1928, he moved his entire family to Rodney, Ontario. He died in 1963. I reckon that Arthur Caley was his uncle or granduncle. I can still remember him and my grandmother speaking with awe of Arthur in their Manx brogue. The latest NAMA Journal has an article about Arthur in it. David Caley
