This is the third file in the HO 98 series dealing with the IoM - a thick bound volume, which can cause some text to be lost in the binding. The pages are unnumbered - the page number here is the position of the document in the bound volume. Some documents are enclosed with others - usually noted as [enc].
It is intended more as a finding aid than as full abstracts of each paper.
The dates are ISO standard format year month day;
the key persons are:
Dundas - Secretary of State at Home Office for the northern district, later
replaced by Lord Portland
Nepean - under Secretary of State.
Alexander Shaw - Lt Governor, appointed in 1791;
Duke of Atholl - 4th Duke, appointed
Governor-in-Chief in 1793;his relationship with Shaw was poor at start and quickly
became very bad
