Mentioned in Folk Life Survey [K/89-C dated August 1968]
Thomas Sayle also had the house known as Sarah's cottage, with the ground attached to it behind, where previously a mill building stood, according to the 25 inch ordnance survey map, a tuck mill, but though Mr Kaighen remembers the building there, in his time it was always used as a farm mill for threshing, and he remembers Sayles using the mill for this. The water-wheel was on the lower side- nearer the river, and the dam and race further up the little glen - the dam being about in line with the end of the road up to Sayle's farm. The water was led down to the mill in a wooden box supported by larch poles.
As seen from the plan the O/S had T.Mill - this abbreviation is used both for Tuck Mill and Threshing Mill - the latter are unusual in England but fairly common on the Island.as well as in Scotland.
