On [hearing?] the humble addresses, & requests, of the Parishioner and inhabitants of the Parish of Kk Bride It is granted & ordered, by me, for the ending of all present, & future controversies, that the sayd parishioners shall immediately contribute their best assistance of all men, horses, carrs, & necessary implements, to joyne with the obliged tenants of Kk Christ, sufficiently to repayre and set in good order, both my mills, within the parish of Kk Christ[Lezayre], commonly called by the name of the Abbye mill, and Wm Carrets mill next adjoyning to the parish of Kk Bride. And after they are soe repayred; the parishoners of Kk B[ride] are further ordered, to keep in good order & repayre, at there owne cost, & charges the mill called Wm Carrets mill, upon sufficient warning given by Wiilliam Carrett, to thatch & bring water,& stones thereto; and the parishoners of Kk Christ are also hereby ordered to repayre & set in sufficient order the other mill continually, called the Abbye mill, save only in cases of necessity, at the discretion of William Carret, the parishoners of Kk Bride, shall give their best assistance of all able men, carrs, horses, spads implements, two days in the year, and also in case of any great and extraordinary necessity, at the discretion of Major Thomas Stanley, they shall (the other parish being not able to master the work) also help in like manner, in witness whereof I have set my hand this day & yeare above written. Also my pleasure is that when any of the parishoners doe come to worke at the forsd Mills Captain John Garret shall oversee them.
Bride being devoid of any significant hills was it seems devoid of mills until the Dogmill was built just over the border from Lezayre - the above order from Earl James might also explain the claimed Lord's half share in the mills if the owner of Garrett's mill transferred the Kk Bride bound tenants to the newly built mill at Glankilpatrick c. 1718.
