dated 28 Mar 1735;James Cowle(Peel) + wife Alice als Cooper sell for £22 to Thos Shimmin(commonly called Tom Finleagh, Kk German) the miln + appurtences belonging, commonly called Cowle's miln situate on Greeb river rent 7s 4d - noted that the eight quarters of lords tenants to sd miln are included; Witt Wm Tear, Hugh Craine (Cowle signs, Alice x)
The mill was visited in 1969 by Michael Apps who reported:
This mill consists of two buildings on either side of a wheel case, The wheel was about 3ft.6ins. wide and had a diameter of about 20ft. On the right of the wheel was a threshing mill 15ft.x 30ft., with signs of having been a two storey building. No machinery is left. The other building has a slate floor on the ground floor in which mill stones are embedded. The front room on this level is 27ft.x18ft. and there are two rear rooms 15ft.x12ft. On the upper storey there are two rooms each 18ft.x27ft. One has a trap door, leading to the lower floor. No machinery is left.
He noted the buildings were up for sale at the time
