Manorial Roll 1590/96 — German Cottages (Peel)

Cottages in Vill Holmetown

Note Latin translated @ as 'for' et as '&', cm [cum] as 'with', cam as 'chamber', dom as 'house'; in some cases the English was used - my own guess is that the wording from the previous year's roll was copied across though sometimes the scribe shortened or replaced phrases.
sometimes the word cam or dom is preceeded by un, presumeabaly unum or 1 , this I have translated as a this may imply that it was not the dwelling house but merely one on which the individual paid rent. The word elarg has been expanded as enlargement - the ordering is also a little different from later years

For some explanation of terms see notes to 1511/1515 Manorial Roll.

All figures are in Roman but here given in Arabic , ob = obolus or halfpenny.

1590 is from a transcription kindly given to me by Michael Crellin

1616 is added for convenience
