Moat - Now a walk

Castle Rushen Moat

The 'moat' of the castle is now a garden walk - remnant of a much wider ravine between the original castle and the boggy ground to the east of it - later the glacis was built to the east as a protection against cannon - this was removed in 17th/18 C to provide more building land for the town. (see Rigby Chap 1)
