A.N. Laughton, 1828-1911

Not Manx, came with father, Edward Laughton from Tickhill, Yorkshire, to the Island in 1830's - in 1841 census found at Harris Terrace Douglas with parents Edward and Laura and siblings Emma, Frederick and Sophie.

Active in Manx Bar - eventually became High Bailiff of Peel, reputedly higher honours were refused him because of an earlier court case in which he successfully opposed the Lieutenant Governor.

See Memoir which prefaces his witty Reminiscences.

Original owner of Derby Castle.
