Came to Island for sake of his wife's health; obtained honorary curacy at
St Georges but 'converted' to Methodism. Founded and built Eryeton Castle
School as well as Crosby Chapel. After
being refused admittance as a Wesleyan Minister founded the Christian Society
in Liverpool, and later elsewhere. Rejoined Church of England in 1840, moved
to Cornwall where a parish was created for him but was in considerable demand
as a visiting preacher.
