REGINALD DECLARES HIMSELF LIEGEMAN OF KING JOHN.

Omnibus Christi fidelibus, praesentem chartam inspecturis, Reginaldus Rex Insularum, salutem. Sciatis quod deveni homo ligius domini Regis Angliæ Johannis contra omnes mortales quarndiu vixero, et inde ei fidelitatem et sacramentum præstiti. Et in hujus rei testimonium hane chartam mean inde feci. Testibus, domino P. Winton' episcopo. W. comite Sarum. G. filio Petri comite Essex. S. comite Winton'. Willielmo Briwerr. Guarino filio Geroldi. Apud Lameh', xvj. die Maij.

To all the faithful of Christ who shall see this present charter, Reginald, King of the Islands, sends greeting.

Be it known to you that I have become the liegeman of the Lord John, King of England, against all men, during my lifetime, and that in consequence I have sworn fidelity to him. In witness whereof I have issued this charter.
