BALLAUGH.

" What can preserve my life, or what destroy ?
An angel's arm can't snatch me from the grave,
Legions of angels can't confine me there."

  On a flat tomb.
January 19th, 1771, aged 73, died the Rev. Matthias Curphey, Vicar General, and rector of this parish. An humble, meek, pacific man. Sound divine, learned, and exemplary; with the Rev. P. Moore, associate revisor of the Manks Scriptures; translated by the Clergy of this Isle a great, arduous, original work.
  On a flat tomb.
  Translated hence, the good man never dies, But, like the day star, only sets to rise.
The Rev. James Wilks, rector of this parish, aged 58 years, was buried June 21st, l 777.
To him to live was Christ, to die was gain; The sting of death sweet consolation brings: Hope, anchor of the soul, allays his pain;
He meets his God, with healing in his wings.
