For your good fame, and for the integrity that you manifested from the beginning to all, and for the good offices and great benefit that the kingdom of Scotland has received from you and your father, and from your ancestors in times past

And in testimony of the aforesaid things, we, the Guardians of the Kingdom, Prelates, Counts, and Barons aforesaid, in our name and that of the whole community, the common seal which we use in Scotland, in the name of our Lady aforesaid, we have affixed to this letter.

Done at Briggeham, the Friday next after the festival of St. Gregory, in the year of our Lord 1289.
