Table
of
Regnal Years of the Sovereigns of
England.

Of the two dates standing opposite to each year of a reign, the first is the com mencement and the second the end of the regmal year. In using this Table, it is necessary to observe that it is calculated according to the Uonvcmoss and Historical year, viz., from the 1st of January ; but as the Civil, Ecclesiastical, and Legal year, for a long period, began on tie 25th of March, all dates between the 1st of January and the 25th of March belong, according to the Civ,l computation, to one year earlier than the Historical year. For example : from the 1st of January to the 25th of March, in the first year of the reign of William the Conqueror, was in the Civil year 1066, instead of lO67.—Nicolas’s Chronology.
