In the Liber Vastar of 1746 for the Parish of Kirk Christ, Lezayre, is the following entry:
Mr. John Christian of Milntown/Mr. Ewan Christian his son. The father is dead and the Son is entred as Right Heir according to Law.

The first record of the grant to the Christians of Milntown of the fishery of Sulby River is dated 1740, and was to Deemster John Christian xiv of Milntown.
