Ro. ALLEN, MINISTER OF MAUGHALL, COMPLAINS OF THE CHURCHWARDENS RICH: COWLS, PATT: CALOW, AND JOHN CORTIN FOR NOT PRESENTING ABSENTEES FROM CHURCH, &c.

June 14th 1659.

Honble Sr

I doe prsente unto Yr Honr the Church-wardens of or Parish vidzt : Richd Cowle, Patricke Calow, & John Cortin for not observinge theire oath, neither Yr Order for the monthly presentinge them yt too frequently, absent themselves from the Comon Worship & publique Service of God on the Lords day (I doe not meane them that are under the name of Quakers but others) & alsoe for not presentinge the youth of the Parish for not Comeinge accordinge to Yr Hors Order, every Saturday, & Lords day in the afternoone to be taught thier Chatechismes. The Churchwardens in fyne pd iis. vid. Pro. dno.*

ffurther I doe Reminder yr Honr, that Ellin Calow of or Parish, by whome James Christin (as it is saide) had a bastarde, hath not as yet (for ought we knowe) been censured, neither given any satisfaction to ye scandalised Congregation, wch is a greate encourage[ment] to ym yt are ill given & much noted by them.
